Buckle Up Your Dog, Yes or No

Ruffview
To buckle or no to buckle that is our question. As you will read many times both of our grandfathers where farmers.  Their call on this topic is simple.  "If a dog is dumb enough to jump out of the bed of the truck or the window, I don't want it. " So they would be shocked that our opinion on this topic is SEATBELT and here are a couple stories to explain why. First, let's start with a story close to home. Literally! A few weekends ago Rorschach was coming to visit his beloved grandparents. Oh, his owner was coming too. The window was down and the little guy was enjoying all the smells of deer and other wildlife. Less than three miles from grandma's house a scary, loud semi…

The Danger of Broken Toys

Ruffview
The Danger of Broken Toys We have all done it and likely are still doing it.  We look at the toy with a hole in it, the tennis ball broken in half,  the ball that comes of the rope, or the stuffed toy with the head missing and think he still plays with it why throw it away. Well, throw them away, because they are dangerous.  And this could happen. Dog Dies After Playing With Popular Chew Toy  This occurred because the owner let the dog play with a broken toy.  The ball had come off the toy and the owner let the dog keep the ball.  Kong did not design the ball to be a stand-alone toy.   Because there was only one hole it the ball a vacuum can occur trapping the ball…

KONG Squeezz Ball with Handle Dog Toy

Ruffview
KONG Squeezz Ball with Handle Dog Toy Well, when it comes to this toy, Rorschach challenged Titan to the title of "Toy Terminator".  Rorschach wouldn't tug or chase the toy, he just chewed on the bungee cord.  The cord lasted about a week, so now Rorschach just has the ball. Titan used it very limitedly as a tug.  He likes it more as a ball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeXluMLH8gg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlEjBjR1gfY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmDfxPSBrfE We say this is a good buy at the price of $7.  It's a ball after all and our dogs love balls.

Auto Watering Bowl

owner products, Ruffview
Titan seems to never have enough water to drink.  He is also a very messy drinker to solve this problem the best we could, we installed this in the basement.  By we, I mean Dave did it.   Titan thanks his human Grandpa for his time. This is the H2O Animal Hydration Tough Guy Automatic Waterer with Drain for pets, 1.5 gallons from Amazon and costs $30. Dave also bought $20 worth of plumbing line and other parts.  The installation took 45 minutes.   This could have been done with cheaper items.  But only the best for Dave's grandfurchild. The thin line on the right (looking at the photo) is the water line.  The black hose on the left is draining hose.  There is a plug in the bowl that can be removed for cleaning…

Homemade Toys

Ruffview
Easy Home Made Toys Whether you live in a return for deposit state or not, the 500ml pop (soda) and water bottles make great toys at a very low price. Little needs to be done to make a water bottle a toy.  Plastic water bottles are made out of a lighter (thinner) plastic then pop bottles.  We remove the label and the hard plastic cap and let the dogs play fetch or just chew on them.   Young pups love the crackling sound the bottles make.  Like all toys, you should check them daily to make sure they are not coming apart.    A water bottle lasts about two weeks at our house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGIBbCH2F1I We use pop bottles as treat toy.   First, wash out the bottle to make sure you get all…

Review of Kong Aqua

Ruffview
Kong Aqua                                 The Kong Aqua came to our attention through Titan's extended family  (his breeder).   Stephanie, the owner of the pack of seven German Shephard, informs us all of her dogs love the Kong Aqua.  The Kong part of the toy lasts for months in the mouth of the pack.  However, the rope lasts about one month.  As you can see in the video of Stephanie's pack the rope makes the Kong Aqua a great tug toy which is why the rope only lasts a month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW0iEe58o9o   The Kong Aqua is great in the water too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeXEpCm2FgY Bella:  I love to swim and I love to play catch.  This is the best of both…

Dog Park Etiquette and You

Fun with owners, Pet Safety, Ruffplaces, Ruffview
Dog Park Etiquette Our (layman's) view from one dog park goer to another. (If you don't care about our view, go to the bottom for links to hear from the Professionals.) First, we believe before going to a dog park; everyone should talk with their vet and trainer, your dog should be socialized, and you should learn the basics of canine interaction, including body postures and appropriate play from a professional. Dog parks are a great way to keep your buddy entertained and socialized but there are often a few types of pets and pet owners that seem to ruin the experience for everyone else. We want to address all that attend these parks so they can identify whether they are one of the owners spoiling this experience. Some of you…

Butterfly Puppy Teether

Ruffview
Butterfly Puppy Teether We gave this product a no buy before but little Ash loves it.   Maybe its the size of the mouth because she is a smaller dog.  Ash will chew on the butterfly for hours and it is holding up to the little puppies bites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnHTW9SCtg0
